Browse the game section of most big box stores these days, and you’ll be staring at a wall full of adult-themed games. Exploding Kittens, Cards Against Humanity, and drinking games are intermixed with Sorry! and Scrabble. Sure, those adult games have their place, but it’s getting harder to pick out fun, easy-to-play games suited for the whole family.
That’s why Pants! is here. Well, it’s one of the reasons.
Back in 2009, I was working as an illustrator and looking for an outlet for my non-client work. I decided to create a card game that would show off my nerdy-retro style. And with a young family, it had to be easy to play and not boring. Kids can be a tough crowd and they don’t hold back yawns. Luckily, they loved playing it.
I also wanted to create a game that didn’t rely on reading or language to play. Yes, the cards are in English but it’s essentially a matching game so all you need to do is match up the types of pants and the color scheme — which is why it’s perfect for younger children.
We tested and tweaked Pants! for months until it was finally ready to put on the market. It initially sold well on Gamecrafter and local markets, but life happens and I had to shift my focus on other things. But over the years I kept hearing from people how they still play the game and love it. So I decided to get this train moving again.
I hope you’ll pick up a copy for yourself and learn to play.
